Resumo: | This work seeks to understand one aspect of the impact that changes in the internationalcooperation realm is posing to CSOs – Civil Society Organizations – in Brazil, in particular thechanges that have incurred in closing of traditional donor offices in the country and thenationalization of European private development agencies in Brazil. To this end, this paperanalyses the experience of the nationalization of Save the Children in Brazil, through apartnership set up with the well-established Abrinq Foundation ( Fundação Abrinq ) for the Rightsof Children. Modifications and new operational forms emerge in a context of changes in the flowof international resources, motivated by new international cooperation agendas, financial crisesand the strengthening of middle-income countries – BRICs. Initial analyses of the case studyindicate that the effects of the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness are part of the contextbehind this move. Also, this brief case study reveals the several potentials and limitationsincurred in this relationship.
